Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu Receives Bronze Award At Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge Malaysia 2014

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, 8 July 2014 – Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu’s Executive Pastry Chef Kris Budiarto was a bronze winner at the Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge Malaysia 2014.

The challenge held for the very first time in Malaysia was conducted at the Berjaya University College of Hospitality on 14 and 15 June 2014.

“We are very proud of Kris Budiarto and his achievement in this competition. It was a very close race and he did extremely well amongst 13 other teams from 12 top hospitality venues to be crowned top three in the nation and the sole winner in East Malaysia,” said Craig Powell, general manager of Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu.

The Dilmah Real High Tea Challenge is part of Dilmah Tea Gastronomy, which is carried out in cooperation with culinary and hospitality professionals and local culinary associations around the world. The competition seeks to redefine high tea by inspiring and educating culinary professionals of the true depth and character of tea. It also presents an opportunity for culinary professionals to explore the true potential of tea and its ingredients in both gastronomy and mixology.

Participants were judged in terms of food presentation, understanding of tea cultivation, knowledge tea flavours and use of sustainable ingredients to reflect the values of Dilmah.
