As SHE surfs marks its first anniversary of running learn-to-surf holidays in Bali for independent women and incentive groups, Director Suzanne Hart says each guest has genuinely undergone a life-changing experience.
“We’ve had such a mix of inspirational women, including those who have recently achieved a major fitness milestone; mums wanting to do something just for themselves; mature women looking for their next adventure; and ladies who have always dreamt of learning to surf but never had the opportunity. Many of our bookings are last-minute.
“Age is no barrier where SHE’s concerned and it’s been inspiring and humbling to see women try a sport like surfing later in life,” said Ms Hart, who herself learned to surf at 48.
SHE travels, which operates SHE surfs, plans to expand in late 2015 with SHE golfs in New Zealand. This is in keeping with SHE’s concept of travelling with like-minded women to learn a new skill or sport. SHE travels boasts intimate groups with personalised attention (no more than eight people per trip), single accommodation, and a mix of adventure and luxury.
To celebrate its first birthday, SHE surfs has launched #AnewAdventure photo competition across social media, which invites others to share their inspirational stories by describing a new adventure they’ve taken in their lives (closes 21 May 2015).
Eight Surf & Stay experiences are planned between May and November 2015. Surf lessons can also be catered to intermediate-level surfers to help them progress and improve their skills.
