Sheraton Macao Hotel Launches Oktoberfest With a Guinness World Records™ Official Attempt for “Most people opening bottles in a relay”

01Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central, the world’s largest Sheraton and Macau’s biggest hotel, is proud to present the first authentic Oktoberfest within Cotai Strip Resorts Macao from October 10 to 20, 2013.

Kicking off the 11-day festival with an official attempt for Guinness World Records Most people opening bottles in a relay will be Sheraton Macao Hotel guests and associates joined by the local community. These two highlights come close on the heels of a series of achievements and accolades that the hotel has under its belt: winner of three prestigious hospitality awards including the Travel & Leisure India’s Best Awards – Best New Opening Hotel (World), the Hurun Hot Hotel Awards 2013 and 2013 China’s Top 10 Most Popular New Opened Hotels by The Golden Pillow Award, as well as receiving its one millionth guest in less than one year since its grand opening last September.

Now in doing the Guinness World Records attempt at the Sheraton Macao Hotel’s Oktoberfest, we are aiming to achieve another milestone.”

02bGuinness World Records Most people opening the bottles in a relay – was set by 398 participants in Ningbo in May this year. Sheraton Macao Hotel will be inviting participants to take part in this record-breaking attempt via its Facebook page. Sheraton Macao Hotel’s guests and associates are also expected to take part in this mega event. A Guinness World Records adjudicator will be on site to adjudicate the record-setting event, and if the effort is successful, to present a certificate that officially proclaims Sheraton Macao Hotel as Guinness World Records record holder. The challenge will be held at Jaya Pool of Sheraton Macao Hotel, which is expected to see throngs of participants and observers alike.

Sheraton Macao Hotel’s Oktoberfest

Apart from Guinness World Records official attempt, Sheraton Macao Hotel will be providing all the quintessential elements of any Oktoberfest including authentic German beer, Bavarian culinary delights, live music entertainment and carnival games. The hotel has partnered with Paulaner, a renowned German brewery which was established in 1634 in Munich, to serve authentic German beer at the festival. Every year, there are more than 13 million liters of Paulaner Oktoberfestbier sold internationally, so guests at Sheraton Macao Hotel  enjoying the hotel’s Oktoberfest can be part of the worldwide festival revelers soaking up genuine German brews without making a trip to Munich. With an admission fee of MOP100, guests can receive a complimentary 0.5L glass of Paulaner beer that is brewed in Munich and delivered to the hotel specially for the event.

03The ideal accompaniment to Oktoberfest beer is traditional German cuisine, and Sheraton Macao Hotel will be flying in Chef Sven Roffmann from Sheraton Munich Arabellapark, who will dish-up a wide range of Oktoberfest favourites such as bratwursts, hand-rolled pretzels, pork knuckles and many more. The highlight of the event is the 40m by 15m Festhalle tent, with Sheraton Macao Hotel associates dressed in Dirndl outfits (traditional Bavarian dresses). This autumn at Sheraton Macao Hotel, guests can definitely immerse themselves in a real Oktoberfest celebration – Bavarian style.


The guarantee for great fun does not end with the authentic German food and beer. The authenticity of the Sheraton Macao Hotel’s Oktoberfest is enhanced by the musical entertainment provided by Toni’s Beerband (led by Anton Hammerer), flown in from Bavaria specially for this occasion, they will lead guests in traditional Oktoberfest sing-a-longs and Polka dances throughout the evening, ensuring everyone has a good time.
