Wander around the second floor of Sheraton on the Park and chances are you’ll bump into a visiting dignitary or celebrity, international business leader, local politician or even an Aussie sporting great.

Timeless and comfortably familiar, Sheraton on the Park has been recognised as a trusted leader when it comes to creating inspiring and unforgettable events for the past two decades.

Whether it is a stylish dinner, elegant wedding or innovative business function, the grand five-star hotel has a well-earned reputation for hosting Sydney’s most-exclusive private events and high-profile extravagant affairs.

A local icon itself, Sheraton on the Park will elevate its events space with a $3m refresh of its dedicated meetings and events floor to ensure the hotel remains the place to be seen. An ideal place to meet, connect and celebrate, the CBD hotel boasts 17 versatile and contemporary designed event spaces perfect for small, intimate or large occasions.

The upgrade of the Grand Ballroom, Hyde Park Room, Phillip Room and pre-function area on the second floor will begin next month and follows the recently completed $45million refurbishment of the hotel’s 558 guest rooms and executive club lounge.

“The business events market has been growing and innovating at an incredible pace, and we are delighted to be at the forefront of delivering truly differentiated spaces, experiences and service,” said David Fraser, General Manager, Sheraton on the Park. “While history will always be the fabric of our DNA, we are excited to deliver the next wave of innovative offerings, matched by inspiring design and legendary service, to continue attracting the best events.”

Architect firm Scott Carver has sought to optimise the hotel’s unique location, capitalising on the serene outlook of Hyde Park through extensive windows. The architectural centrepiece – a statement glass atrium – soars across two floors and fills the event spaces with an abundance of natural light.

The design team has created impact where it matters but remained sensitive to the building’s heritage. The new-look will feature a bold and sophisticated colour palette of smoky greys and taupes, dark timbers and touches of brass to elevate the grandeur of the spaces.

Giving the function rooms their own identity, the new spaces will sit comfortably alongside the hotel’s existing areas and recent refurbishment works with design elements connecting to details in the lobby atrium.

“The interior design ensures that the heritage of the existing iconic building on Hyde Park is respected, while bringing a contemporary take on elegance to the hotel,” said Scott Carver director Angela Biddle.

“The Ballroom, function rooms and pre-function areas will be elevated through carefully considered design, into sophisticated destinations with elevated finishes; the perfect backdrop to stunning events.”

On arrival to the floor, the newly designed pre-function area provides a transition between the grand atrium lobby and the elegance of the meeting rooms. The use of screens, antique mirror, geometric patterns and purposeful seating arrangements create a strong sense of arrival.

Anchored in the sophisticated selection of fabrics and furniture finishes, a colour palette of navy, greys and white will showcase the space, with added brass and metal details reminiscent of looking into a jewellery box. This provides a teaser as to what will be revealed in the adjoining rooms.

Grand Ballroom (650m– perfect for banquets of up to 600 or conference of 850)

The verticality of the Ballroom will be enhanced by cladding the existing columns in dark timber from the floor to ceiling to create drama. Decorative wall lights on each column create rhythm and bronze screens will feature as a considered backdrop for events. The far wall will be clad in antique mirror to bring daylight into the space with bespoke chandeliers designed by Point Of View, adding sparkle to this sophisticated interior.

Hyde Park Room (186m– ideally suited for weddings up to 100 and conference of 250)

The Hyde Park Room is a classic yet contemporary space, perfectly suited for weddings and events. Classic panel trim moulding creates architectural interest, while blown glass light fittings bring an added elegance to the space.

The renovation is scheduled to be complete by early September.
