Shining Bright! A Stunning 250kg Crystal Chandelier Marks The Completion Of Rydges South Bank’s $30 Million Redevelopment

It’s a stunning way to signal the end of a comprehensive three-year $30 million redevelopment that included the redevelopment of all 304 rooms and suites and a $1million technology upgrade – and it’s stopping traffic! Now hanging proudly in the foyer of Rydges South Bank is a 250kg custom-designed bronze, metal and crystal chandelier, that would even take Sia’s breath away!

This final touch marks the culmination of the hotel’s all-of-property redesign and refurbishment and is testament to a long-term commitment to remaining at the epicenter of Brisbane’s leisure and corporate visitor market, a beacon for the city’s visitor experience.

The 250kg masterpiece chandelier was designed by award-winning architecture and interior design firm Kannfinch. Drawing on various design elements from the hotel’s famed interiors, it features a combination of contemporary design elements that set the mood for what to expect throughout the hotel – modern luxury.

Kannfinch’s leading interior designer Mays Jajo said, “The central geometric element has an integrated warm LED lamp for ambience, which not only illuminates mood lighting, but also acts as the crown to the master piece. Lavish crystals then suspend from within the crown adding sparkle texture to the space. The light fitting was designed with a bronze metal structure, with the crystal chandelier hanging 3.5m over the atrium, suspended by a mirrored reflector canopy with integrated recessed downlights to reflect light against the crystal.”

“After three years of redevelopment, Rydges South Bank has been completely transformed with a layered redesign that is a tribute to our position as the premier lifestyle and cultural hotel in Brisbane,” said Rydges Area General Manager, Callum Kennedy. “The hotel is now a slice of modern luxury, offering both corporate and leisure guests the most modern technology, the most beautiful rooms and suites, an unparalleled position in the heart of South Bank, access to the award-winning Bacchus Restaurant, breathtaking views to the Brisbane skyline and importantly, a real sense of home.”
