AECO’s efforts to combat marine plastic pollution get another boost as AECO member Ship to Shore donates USD 3,321 from their 1% for the Planet fund towards Clean Seas education, reduction and cleanups. Ship to Shore has committed to making a second donation at a later point in time.

Frigg Jørgensen, executive director of AECO, was both surprised and pleased when Ship to Shore approached AECO and offered to donate a total of USD 6,000 to the association’s Clean Seas efforts.

“We are very grateful to Ship to Shore for their support and their commitment to protecting the environment,” say Jørgensen.

The donated funds will support AECO’s ongoing efforts to drastically cut back on single-use plastics on Arctic expedition cruise vessels, as well as enhance cruise passengers’ involvement in regular beach cleanups.

Thanks to Ship to Shore’s initiative, AECO is now a registered non-profit partner with 1% for the Planet, a global movement that connects donors with environmental causes.
