Siemens and Lufthansa Group intensify cooperation

September 5, 2016 Tech No Comments Email Email

On 1 August 2016, Siemens AG, together with Lufthansa, started using a bespoke Direct Connect Solution for Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian and Brussels Airlines). In contrast to the previous set-up, Siemens AG is now able to book its desired flights directly via the LHG airlines instead of via third parties. The plan for the future is that new and tailor-made Lufthansa products are to be made available to Siemens travellers via this new channel, enabling completely new ways of cooperation. Furthermore, with this new model, the Siemens Group will benefit from commercial savings running well into the range of six figures.

In mid-March, several Siemens divisions were given the go ahead to start using Direct Connect and, after a successful test phase, this new way of booking can now be used on business trips by all Siemens travellers based in Germany.

“We’re thrilled to have been able to develop a technically innovative, customer-oriented solution together with our partners, making things even better for our business travellers”, says Thorsten Eicke, Vice President for Global Mobility Services.

Jens Bischof, Executive Vice President Sales Lufthansa Group Airlines and Chief Commercial Officer Hub Frankfurt, adds: “With Direct Connect we are able to offer business and leisure travellers a service tailored to their individual needs. This is a vital part of our new marketing strategy. I’m really delighted that, together with Siemens, one of our biggest business customers, as well as our sales partners, we’ve been able to develop an innovative solution in this area.”
