Momi Bay, Fiji: Marriott International is pleased to announce the appointment of Silvano Dressino as the general manager for Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, which is slated to open in April, 2017.

As general manager, Silvano will oversee all pre-opening activity, ensuring the highly anticipated resort opens on time and to great success.  In his role, he will be responsible for the resorts day-to-day operations, driving all aspects of execution with respect to project management, budget preparation, brand compliance and recruitment.

“I am thrilled to continue my journey with Marriott International as general manager of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay,” said Silvano Dressino.  “I have been part of the Marriott family for over 20 years so it’s a great honour to be asked to open the first Marriott branded resort in Fiji. In terms of next steps, I’m looking forward to recruiting a strong team to help me establish this resort as a popular destination for both leisure and business travellers alike.”

Silvano started his career with Marriott International in 1996 as assistant to the regional public relations manager at the Marriott Regional Office in Eschborn, Germany.  Working for Marriott International has allowed Silvano to pursue various roles in international markets, including general manager at Shanghai Pudong Hotel, China, resident manager at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong and director of reservation sales at Munich Marriott Hotel.

Most recently, Silvano was interim general manager at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, where he successfully managed the pre-opening activity of the 634 room, flagship property, which is due to open in December, 2016. Prior to this, Silvano was general manager for JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya, where he initiated a wide range of customer service initiatives and achieved a 10% year-on-year growth in guest satisfaction scores.

As General Manager for Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Silvano will report into Sean Hunt, area vice president, Australia, New Zealand & Pacific at Marriott International.

“Silvano brings a wealth of experience to this role and I have no doubt that he will do an exceptional job at launching Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay,” said Sean Hunt.  “His ability to lead an international team while providing a personalised experience to guests will make him the perfect candidate for this role.”

Tucked away on the West coast of Fiji, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Nadi International Airport, Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay will offer 250 guestrooms, including 92 free-standing villas and 22 deluxe overwater villas. A striking option for a celebration, exclusive corporate event or company conference, the resort offers a range of flexible event and conference venues, including a ballroom and boardroom. Guests can also take advantage of the resort’s beachfront location by extending their event outside, with over 1,200 square metres of outdoor pre-function space.
