With 524 Australian and New Zealand Captain’s Choice guests onboard, Silversea’s intimate ships embarked on a 14-day voyage including a visit to Gallipoli where they moored together off Anzac Cove on Anzac Day, allowing guests to experience the moving dawn service via live feed.

Karen Christensen, General Manager & Director Sales/Marketing, Australasia said two ships being chartered together and following the same itinerary was a first for Silversea.

“This unique voyage offered a memorable experience for Australians and New Zealanders wanting to be part of this very significant day and as a longtime partner of Silversea, Captain’s Choice was the ideal operator to conduct this charter.”

“While charter and incentive is a key part of Silversea’s business, this pairing of sister ships, sailing the same itinerary, was a first for the company and a privilege for us on such an important occasion.”

The 14-day cruise departed Athens on 20 April 2015 and is currently sailing through Turkey, Greece, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy where the ships will conclude the cruise in Venice on 4 May 2015.

Hosting the tour along with Captain’s Choice founder and director, Phil Asker were four of Australia’s top Defence Force Officers including Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie, Admiral Chris Barrie, Vice Admiral Russ Crane and Lieutenant General Mark Evans who personally guided guests around the battlegrounds of Gallipoli and Australian War Memorial at Lone Pine Cemetery.

“Silversea worked closely with Captain’s Choice to design the most fitting itinerary for this commemorative tour and this type of planning flexibility coupled with our all-inclusive onboard offering is a major driver for companies choosing to charter cruise ships.” said Ms Christensen.

Captain’s Choice Managing Director Dan Kotzmann, agrees: “By pairing the in-depth shore excursions provided by Captain’s Choice with Silversea’s onboard inclusions, we’ve been able to create another outstanding tailor-made journey which we hope will leave our guests with memories that will last a lifetime. It was an honour and privilege to be able to host our guests aboard our Gallipoli 100th Anniversary cruises..”

In 2016, Captain’s Choice will conduct two privately chartered cruises to the Kimberley in North West Australia and remote regions of Japan aboard Silversea Expeditions’ ship, Silver Discoverer.
