Customers travelling from Brisbane will soon have even more opportunity to tantalise their taste buds at 35,000 feet, with Singapore Airlines announcing the introduction of its popular Book the Cook service for the first time on its four daily flights to Singapore.

Singapore Airlines currently offers the ‘Book the Cook’ service from more than 20 destinations across its global network including on flights from Sydney and Melbourne for Suites, First Class, Business Class and Premium Economy Class customers.

Book the Cook will provide customers the opportunity to pre-select a main meal from a wide selection of delicious options, including creations inspired by the Airline’s International Culinary Panel of world-renowned chefs.

The new service will be available to customers travelling to Singapore from Brisbane in Business Class from 1 October and for Premium Economy customers when the first Airbus A350-900 operates from Brisbane on 17 October.

Options available on all flights from Brisbane to Singapore include:

  • Chicken Madras with saag aloo gobi, steamed basmati rice, mango chutney and garlic naan bread
  • Cantonese roasted duck with Asian greens and steamed jasmine rice
  • Chargrilled beef fillet in green peppercorn sauce, with seasoned vegetables and gratin potatoes.

Singapore Airlines Acting Area Manager Queensland and Northern Territory, David Pinches, said the addition of Book the Cook on flights from Brisbane would further enhance the travel experience for Singapore Airlines customers.

“We know that our customers want more choice and a restaurant-quality dining experience when they travel, which is why we are happy to introduce the Book the Cook service for the first time to our Queensland customers,” Mr Pinches said.

“The Book the Cook service is extremely popular with our customers in other destinations and we are pleased that we have been able to work with Alpha Flight Services to deliver a great range of delicious meal options for our Business Class and Premium Economy Class customers travelling from Brisbane.”

Brisbane is the second new Australian destination to unveil the introduction of Book the Cook, with Perth also announcing they will offer the service to their Business Class customers from Sunday 1 October.

The introduction of Book the Cook to Perth and Brisbane will take the number of cities customers can pre-select their main dish in Australia to four, with Sydney and Melbourne already offering the service.

Alpha Flight Services Senior Corporate Chef, Robert Smithson, said the introduction of Book the Cook was a great opportunity for the culinary team to be involved in the development and delivery of innovative local and international dishes.

“Alpha is excited to be a part of the enhanced guest experience this will offer Singapore Airlines customers departing Brisbane,” Chef Smithson said.

The introduction of Book the Cook in Brisbane follows the announcement earlier in the week that Singapore Airlines will begin to pour local Craft Brewery Green Beacon’s Wayfarer American Wheat Beer onboard flights to and from Brisbane from 1 October.

It also comes just weeks’ before the first of three new Airbus A350-900 aircraft begin operating to Brisbane, offering travellers the latest in seat technology and comfort across all cabin classes.

Book the Cook will be available on all flights departing Brisbane from 1 October 2017, with selections able to be made from 25 September 2017.

Book the Cook is also available for flights departing Singapore, as well as for departures from a number of other destinations across the Airline’s network.
