Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has appointed The Walshe Group (TWG) as its representative for the Victorian market located in Melbourne, effective 06 June.

With over 40 years experience in Destination Marketing, The Walshe Group is thrilled to be representing the STB in Victoria. Last year was a record year for Singapore and the STB in terms of both tourism receipts and visitor arrivals. As such, TWG believes it to be vital to ensure that Australia, and specifically Melbourne and the state of Victoria, continue to build on this quality tourism growth.

Managing Director and owner Jacqui Walshe said “We feel very privileged to have been selected by Singapore Tourism Board Oceania as their marketing partner in Victoria.  Singapore is a fabulous destination which is close to the heart of many Australians and The Walshe Group looks forward to working with STB to increase visitor numbers from the state”.

The Walshe Group has had a long-term presence in the Melbourne market and aims to work closely with the travel trade in Victoria; and build awareness, consideration and advocacy of Singapore as a compelling leisure and business destination.  In 2016, Singapore received 16.4 million international visitors and Australia was the fifth largest visitor-generating market to Singapore, with 1.027 million Australians visiting the destination.

The main purpose for Australian visitors travelling to Singapore is leisure, with many of them repeat visitors and about 70 per cent of Australian arrivals on a stopover.  The average length of stay is three days, and the bulk of Australian visitors come from the three cities/states of Sydney/New South Wales, Melbourne/Victoria, and Perth/Western Australia.

Singapore Tourism Board Oceania joins The Walshe Group’s current stable of clients including Hawaii Tourism Oceania, NYC & Company, Visit Flanders, Oman Tourism, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, Delta Air Lines, ANA, South African Airlines and Lufthansa, to name a few.

The Singapore Tourism Board was established in 1964 as the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board with the mandate to promote Singapore as an international tourist destination. The STB Oceania regional office (based in Sydney) was established in 1970 and covers the Oceania region.
