Six Senses Douro Valley is honoured to be selected for inclusion in the 2017 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List Award as one of their favourite hotels in the world.

The Condé Nast Traveler Gold List 2017 recognises the hotels around the world that the publication’s editors and contributors visit time and time again – and remember long after checkout. “This year’s Gold List is a collective love letter to all of those hotels around the world that set the standard for a life well-lived”, says Pilar Guzmán in her editor’s letter. “So while these stays are meant to take you out of the familiar, they nonetheless serve as a gold standard for how we should treat one another and ourselves – even when we are the ones making the beds.”

This award follows the nomination for the Condé Nast Traveler Hot List 2016, which recognises the world’s top 60 hotels and resorts opened during the past 12 months.

Nicholas Yarnell, general manager of Six Senses Douro Valley said, “This is simply amazing!  Being in this list amongst prominent hotels in established destinations shows that Six Senses and the Douro Valley are a trusted choice. As mentioned by Condé Nast ‘These are the hotels we don’t have to think twice about’. We are very respectful of Condé Nast Traveler’s expert panel of travel journalists who cast real votes on the basis of their travel experiences. Condé Nast Traveler is able to call on arguably the best expert panel to judge these awards. We are truly delighted.”

Condé Nast Traveler is one of America’s best-selling and prestigious travel magazines. The properties that have achieved inclusion in the list will be published in the January issue of the magazine as well as announced on

Six Senses Douro Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage setting fronts onto the River Douro as it winds through the world’s oldest demarcated wine region. Six Senses Spa comprises 10 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools and a gym. It presents specialty and local therapies and multi-day programs. An outdoor yoga deck is ideal for individuals and groups. The sun-kissed valley is at the heart of the region that offers activities and excursions by foot, vehicle or water.
