Six Senses Douro valley is proud to have been awarded first place in the category “Resorts in Europe” by Germany’s Traveller’s World, a magazine that lures their readers to the most enchanting places on earth with exciting features, opulent pictures, traveler’s news and hints.

“This is an amazing award,” explained Nick Yarnell, general manager of the hotel. “ The German market is very important for us and this award will certainly put Six Senses Douro Valley top of mind for some of the most discerning travelers. We are delighted to be honored along with the top properties in the world including two of my personal favorites: Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes and Finca Cortesin in Malaga.”

With its premium presentation and high journalistic standard, Traveller’s World appears four times per year and fills an important niche for the German-speaking market. The magazine is displayed in selected bookstores, in all airports and train stations newsstands in Germany, in the First and Business Class of airlines, in the suites and lounges of top hotels and resorts, on luxurious cruise ships, in exclusive golf clubs and at high level tour operators and, since 2009, on board Lufthansa airlines. Moreover, several thousand copies are distributed by mail to VIPs, decision makers in the economy, opinion leaders and multipliers.

Since 2011, the readers of Traveller’s World have chosen their favorite hotels, resorts, spas, airlines and cruise lines and the motto has been: In Good We Trust. This year, in addition to the magazine readers’ votes, input was expanded with Traveller’s World asking respected influencers in the hospitality sector for their personal opinion and choice. Mary Gostelow, la Grande Dame of the travel journalism; Ingo Schweder, the ultimate opinion on spas and wellness and Alex Macheras, British expert on aviation added their expertise and knowledge to the award process.
