A native of South Africa and true outdoorsman – Grant Hastings once trekked the coast of Mozambique with only a bindle or cloth sack on his back, nourished by the fruit of the sea and hospitality of the locals – Hilton entered his first resort management role in Madagascar as a watersport and marina manager at Anjajavy L’Hotel.
From there, he enjoyed steady career growth into various positions from assistant general manager, resident manager to general manager. In 2007, Hilton joined Constance Hotels and Resorts and managed resorts in Madagascar, Maldives and most recently in Seychelles.
Ever-hungry for knowledge, Hilton has a degree in Industrial Psychology, Marketing and Communication and earned several useful certificates such as: Golf Course Management; Royal Yacht Masters Ocean Sailing Skipper; Cornell Hospitality Management; Structural Surveying from BABTIE Engineering UK.
Hilton is a natural linguist fluent in Afrikaans, French and English with some Italian, Malagasy and Zulu. Fly-fishing and scuba diving have kept him busy on and in the water, while on land he samples local cuisines. Hilton is married to Anna, a doctor of Marine Biology, another multi-lingual who shares passion for nature conservation and scuba diving. Together they have two adventurous, young daughters. What better a place to arrive at than Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam. Hilton has already picked up his chopsticks, working with the culinary team to enhance the authenticity of the resort’s spectacular central Vietnam dining options.
Six Senses President Bernhard Bohnenberger said, “Hilton’s rich experience is enveloped in his passion for cultures and people development. Although new to our group, Hilton is very Six Senses orientated with his personal commitment to wellness and sustainability. We are delighted to have Hilton come on board with us and we look forward to his contributions at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay”.
Hilton comments, “I am enthusiastic about being part of the team here at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay; we have a great product, wonderful people, and good leaders. Over the upcoming year we have exciting plans to enhance a spectacular property even more.” Guests can also join Hilton on guided snorkeling tours of the resort’s house reef and hikes to Bai Nho.
