A Paradise of One’s Own

Set on a spectacular beach on the west coast of Malolo Island in the Mamanuca Group of islands in Fiji, a private tropical paradise is being realised by Vunabaka with luxury hospitality group Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas.

With the Six Senses resort set to open in the early part of 2018, Six Senses Residences Fiji presents owners with a personal luxury island hideaway that is easily accessible from Australia and New Zealand, being just a short three to four-hour flight away. Positioned on 48.5-hectares (120-acres) with a magnificent sandy bay that is bookended with dramatic rocky headlands, a rising lush hilltop behind and three private marinas, this is undoubtedly one of the world’s most picturesque locations.

It is just a few kilometres offshore from Nadi and its international airport, yet feels a million miles away. The new Six Senses Fiji encompasses a boutique luxury resort with 26 spacious villas, all with private pools, in addition to 60 luxury Six Senses residences in 3, 4 and 5 bedroom configurations that are being developed in stages over the next few years. Owners of the residences will enjoy access to all of the facilities of the Six Senses Fiji resort.

Each residence, designed by award-winning New Zealand architect Richard Priest, has been crafted in a contemporary Fijian style for owners seeking an idyllic paradise escape from their busy lifestyles. And, along with the beauty of an island resort that is immersed in nature, comes the ease of exceptional comfort and luxury service.

The types and locations of residences vary, and purchasers are able to choose from Marina-side residences, Ocean View Hill residences set into the lush hilltop surrounds, Beach residences on the golden coral sands of Vunabaka Bay or Ocean residences by the sapphire blue waters of the lagoon. There are 11 residences completed, with another 8 to start in the next 6 months in stage 1. In stage 3 there are 31 residential lots that are currently available for purchase.

Owning a residence means enjoying access to all of the guest services of Six Senses Fiji, including the four superb dining venues under the direction of New Zealand-born Executive Chef Ihaka Peri. Ihaka’s menus showcase the island’s local seafood, seasonal fruits and organic fresh vegetables and herbs grown onsite or sourced from local farmers. The dining options available to owners of Six Senses residences include Tovolea Restaurant for Mibrasa Grills, local seafood and Fijian-inspired cuisine for dinner; Marina Village classic café with a Southeast Asian twist; Gourmet Deli market with snacks and gourmet produce for at-home cooking; and TeiTei Pizzeria, next to the outdoor cinema, which serves fresh traditional pizzas in a convivial setting for guests and owners.

A visit to The Wine Corner is a must for tailor-made experiences, with advice from the chefs and sommeliers on hand to help choose the perfect wine with dinner, while pre- and post-dinner cocktails can be enjoyed at Tovolea Bar in the centre of the resort, or at the Marina Village Bar by the water.

Also available to owners of Six Senses residences are amenities of the resort such as the renowned Six Senses Spa and Six Senses Integrated Wellness program. Treatments include massages, facials, body scrubs, exercise programs, yoga, meditation, beauty treatments and sleep tips. There is also a fully equipped gymnasium.

The new Surf School by Tropic Surf takes keen board riders on a short boat trip with experienced guides to find the best waves, while the resort’s cooking classes, kids’ club and host of water sports – sailing, jet-ski safaris, scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, water skiing, island-hopping, sunset cruises, fishing and local village tours – ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. At the Watersports Academy there is a high performance sailing yacht available for inter-island excursions.

Six Senses residences’ owners are able to call on the resort’s multilingual hosts and butler services at leisure, as well as visit the Boutique offering clothing, art and accessories, and enjoy use of the tennis court and library that is stocked with a wide selection of books and DVDs, and an online digital newsstand.

Every residence at Six Senses features stunning contemporary design, a large private pool, fully equipped kitchen stocked with gourmet food and beverages on request, indoor/outdoor living spaces with expansive private sundecks, and alfresco dining areas complete with outdoor barbecues. Also thoughtfully considered are laundry facilities, private in-residence breakfast options from the Six Senses resort, and complimentary nanny services.

The residences vary in size, averaging from 600 square metres (6,500 square feet) of interior and exterior space up to 1,000 square metres (10,500 square feet). The development is situated on the west side of Malolo Island overlooking Vunabaka Bay, and is framed by glorious prehistoric Baka trees. The generous sizes of the residences ensure space for all members of the family, from big and little children to parents and grandparents, in a private luxurious setting.

Owners are able to enjoy their residences as they wish throughout the year.  The structure of the residences’ lot ownership (99-year leaseholds) has been set up to preserve the underlying ownership of the land by the local Fijian tribes (the Mataqali), and will generate sustainable revenue streams by way of a share in the leases on the land and an ownership share in the resort management company. The private residences may be placed into the Six Senses Rental Program with the benefit to owners of Six Senses management and also rental at times of the year when they are not being used, and for guests they present a spacious accommodation option.

The resort is situated just 23 kilometres (14.3 miles) from Nadi International Airport. It’s a short scenic 10-minute helicopter journey to Six Senses Fiji or alternatively a 20-minute drive from the airport to Port Denarau Marina, then a 35-minute boat trip to Six Senses Fiji on Malolo Island.

Six Senses Residences Fiji and Six Senses Fiji are due to open in the early part of 2018 and are being developed by Vunabaka Bay Fiji Limited.

Pricing for Six Senses residences ranges from AUD$650,000 to AUD$2,500,000 per residence, inclusive of site and marina berth. Prices are exclusive of VAT and land transfer fees.

Six Senses Residences Fiji will compliment residences in other locales including Six Senses Residences Courchevel, France; Six Senses Residences Zil Pasyon, Seychelles; and Six Senses Residences Con Dao, Vietnam.
