Sizzling Summer Set to Inspire Stylish Staycations

March 7, 2014 Lifestyle No Comments Email Email

After one of the most sweltering summers on record, one expert predicts that an unprecedented number of holidaymakers will pack up their possessions and opt for a luxury stay under canvas rather than budget for a hotel as glamping becomes the hottest travel trend of the decade.

Founder of, Sarah Riley, said Glamping – a portmanteau for glamorous camping – has contributed to a return to outdoor holidays, in recent years. Based in North Devon, UK, Riley decided to put her writing talents to use; creating the lifestyle website just two and a half years ago. “We’ve seen many camping trends come and go, but none are as persistent as glamping”, said the mother of two. “Venues smooth off the rough edges of camping to create a quirky, outdoor experience for families, without fuss.”

Inspired Camping expects the trend for comfort camping to continue to grow exponentially and is responding to this with the creation of its unique online Glamping business course to help those new to the scene to immerse themselves in the joy of life under canvas. “The recession drew attention back to camping and there was a resurgence in this type of holiday. As financial security returns; consumers know what they want and are looking for something special.” The new Inspired Camping course is aimed at glamping entrepreneurs and dreamers: people who wish to start a glamping business from scratch or boost their existing one.

The course covers 36 industry specific modules: everything from ‘About glamping’ to ‘online marketing’ and ‘business development’. Riley said, “I’ve made friends with people from Australia to America, and from the UK to Iceland, who offer boutique, boudoir holidays. I created this course to help others realise their dreams of running a glamping site of their own.”

From tepees to bell tents; yurts to caravans; the Inspired Camping website attracts enthusiasts from all over the world, who read and contribute anecdotes, tips and news items, surrounding the theme of luxury camping. As spring emerges, several times a week, Riley is contacted by venues cropping up across the globe, offering unique outdoor experiences to universal glampers. With farmers expanding to accommodate glamping, bringing home extra bacon of around $39,500 per year, it’s no wonder it’s becoming just as popular with businesses looking to diversify, as it is with holiday makers looking for a new way to see the sights.

Providing prospective glamping proprietors with advertising space through Inspired Camping and its extensive network, is just one of the benefits offered through taking this course. Effectively a glamping guru, Riley has done all the hard work in research and networking, so people signing up to the course don’t have to, and can simply concentrate on building their business.

Glamping is a hot topic, and with this year’s heat set to turn up, scores of sightseers are expected to spend summer funds on this type of specialist excursion, rather than more traditional package breaks or flight plus hotel options.
