Skal International Club of Mumbai 144 held its 60th Annual General Meeting at The Westend Hotel in Mumbai on 17th October, 2016.
Mr. Carl Vaz outgoing President for SKAL Club of Bombay & current 2nd Vice President SKAL International India, said “It has been a memorable journey since taking over in 2012.
We have managed to bring back SKAL Bombay from the brink of closure where it languished at just around 30 odd members to over 150 as on date. Skal Bombay now boasts of a wide representation of senior travel professionals comprising travel agents & tour operators, hospitality, airlines and tourism boards. My goal of turning around SKAL Club of Bombay has been achieved.”
Mr. Vaz further added, “I am confident that the new managing committee led by President Sk. Partha Chatterjee will take the club onto the next phase of consolidated growth matched with an equal focus on developing member experience and enhancing business opportunities.”
The new incoming board has Partha Chatterjee, a veteran hotelier taking over the mantle of the President for the term 2016 – 2018.

“Events, Networking across Fraternal clubs and Chambers of Commerce, trade with each other and introductions to Government bodies for improving tourism in the country will be the focus for the coming year” according to Partha Chatterjee, the incoming President.
SKAL Bombay is already 154 members across every sphere of tourism activities from Hotels, Travel agents, Airlines, Railways, Cruise Liners, Airports, Car Rentals, Restaurants, Golf Courses, Conference Organisers, Casinos etc.
Skål International is the only international organisation which brings together all sectors of the travel and tourism industry. Representing the industry’s managers and executives, Skål members meet at local, national and international levels in an environment of friendship to discuss subjects of common interest. Skål has approximately 17,000 tourism professionals in 450 Clubs spread throughout almost 85 countries. As in other associations of professionals most Skål activities take place locally, but the movement also features National and Area Committees under the umbrella of Skål International. Skal is headquartered in Mallorca, Spain.
Skål International is also an Affiliate Member of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) whose mission is to promote the development of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. Skål has adopted the Global Code of Ethics in Tourism, and also supports the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from sexual exploitation in tourism, ECPAT International and the project ST-EP (Sustainable Tourism- Eliminating Poverty). Skål International is also a member of ICTP (International Coalition of Tourism Partners) and a partner of IIPT (International Institute for Peace through Tourism).
