Skal International joins the rest of the world in mourning the loss of 298 passengers and crew on-board flight Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 that came down in Eastern Ukraine last Friday local time.

“As members of the travel and tourism industry we offer our deepest sympathy and prayers to the families of the passengers and crew of flight MH17. Any disaster such as this where the death toll affects do many families from such a wide number of countries is deeply saddening. This sadness is only increased given the apparent inability of the recovery teams to secure the site,” states Skal International President Karine Coulanges.

“We urge all the parties concerned, The Russian Federation, the Republic of Ukraine and the separatists in Eastern Ukraine, to act in a humanitarian and moral way to ensure the passengers and crew are returned to their families in the shortest possible time and with dignity. We also ask the parties to put aside the differences and allow a full and open investigation to establish how the flight came down so future air travelers can fly in greater safety as a result of the findings.”
