SKYCITY Queenstown renews partnership with American Express Queenstown Winter Festival

SKYCITY Queenstown has confirmed it will once again be a key sponsor for the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival in 2014 and 2015.

Following the very successful return of the festival ball in 2013, SKYCITY is again supporting the ball, which is billed as the glamour event of the festival program. Scheduled for the first weekend of the festival, the ball will be held at the Queenstown Memorial Centre on Saturday 21st June.

SKYCITY Queenstown has been a long time supporter of the festival, having sponsored the event every year since the casino opened, in late 2000. SKYCITY’s investment in the festival increased last year, following their attainment of 100% ownership of the Queenstown casino in December 2012 and they will offer an extended entertainment programme this year at both SKYCITY Queenstown Casino and SKYCITY Wharf Casino.

Michelle Baillie, General Manager SKYCITY Queenstown, is pleased to continue with the increased level of support for the festival in 2014.

“The ball is an iconic part of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival and after such a positive response in 2013 we are hoping to make this year’s event better than ever,” Michelle says.

“We are proud to have a long-term partnership with the festival and in addition to the ball we will continue to run a full calendar of free live entertainment across both of our Queenstown properties throughout the festival. It’s a fantastic way for us to get behind the Queenstown community and be a part of the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest winter celebration,” she says.

Festival Manager Lisa Buckingham is delighted to have the continued support from one of the festival’s committed local operators.

“It’s great to see a local business like SKYCITY Queenstown really get behind the festival and help to deliver a full programme. The fantastic response last year to the ball meant we were keen to get SKYCITY on board again to enable us to stage this festival favourite in the fortieth anniversary year.”

Tickets are expected to sell quickly, following last year’s rush when the ball sold out in less than a week.
