Sleep In a Stable and Love the Luxury

April 6, 2016 Hotel News No Comments Email Email

Kinnon & Co have just launched their new Homestead Stables accommodation which combines rustic pioneer charm with 4½-star luxury.

The stables launch follows the successful introduction of the award-winning Pioneer Slab Huts last year and gives visitors to outback Queensland somewhere unique to stay.

The Homestead Stables in Longreach are inspired by the stables and stable-boys’ quarters on a traditional outback station but have cleverly incorporated every contemporary comfort and facilities for self catering.

Founder of Kinnon & Co and present-day outback pioneer, Richard Kinnon, said the Pioneer Slab Huts have proved so popular with visitors that Kinnon & Co have fast-tracked this next stage of their accommodation development.

“People love that they can stay somewhere different with a real outback atmosphere,” Richard said.

“We’re already almost fully booked in the Pioneer Slab Huts and Homestead Stables for the 2016 season, and that’s great news for local tourism as the drought continues to bite out here.”

The recent additions to Kinnon & Co’s Outback Accommodation are the first new tourist accommodation in Longreach in well over a decade and reflect the Kinnon family’s confidence in the region’s future as well as their passion for sharing the outback lifestyle with visitors.

Guests at the Homestead Stables will discover many carefully-curated touches that celebrate outback and pioneer heritage. From the cobbled walkway and two-part stable doors to the ‘old gate’ bedhead and hurricane lamps, every unique element tells a story of pioneer station life.

An ensuite bathroom with copper basin, plus air-conditioning and TV/DVD, ensure today’s guest has an easier life than the stable boys!

The Homestead Stables sleep three people – in a queen and single bed – with an additional person possible thanks to the traditional ‘pulley bed’, which a stable boy would have slept on and raised out of the way during the day.

Guests are also invited to enjoy the quirky outdoor bath terrace where a soak in an outdoor bathtub at sunset or under the stars is all part of the outback experience.

For the introductory year, the Homestead Stables are available at the special rate of $180 per night and they also feature in some of Kinnon & Co’s inclusive outback holidays.

Kinnon & Co’s Homestead Stables and other accommodation are conveniently situated within a few minutes walk of the iconic Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach.

Visitors to Longreach can also immerse themselves in local history and be entertained by Kinnon & Co’s memorable range of experiences including the award-winning Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience, Starlight’s Cruise Experience, Nogo Station Experience and Winton Discovery Experience.
