Snapchat today announced a new augmented reality travel experience associated with some of the world’s most iconic destinations and travel monuments.

People visiting sites such as Paris’ Arc de Triomphe or Mumbai’s Gateway of India can now experience these iconic travel landmarks in a totally different way using Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

As the world’s of travel and technology collide, the Landmarker feature from Snapchat allows travellers to engage with travel destinations in new, fun and shareable ways.

New Snapchat Landmarkers for Australian travellers

Landmarkers are Lenses that enable augmented reality experiences that transform the world’s most iconic landmarks in real-time.

Fourteen new Landmarkers begin rolling out today, and Snapchatters visiting these physical locations will also be able to experience them:

  • Arc de Triomphe – Paris, France

  • Astronomical Clock – Prague, Czech Republic

  • Brandenburg Gate – Berlin, Germany

  • El Castillo – Chichen Itza, Mexico

  • Galata Tower – Istanbul, Turkey

  • Gateway of India – Mumbai, India

  • Leaning Tower of Pisa – Pisa, Italy

  • Natural History Museum – London, UK

  • Neues Rathaus – Munich, Germany

  • Qasr Al-Farid – Mada’in Saleh, Saudi Arabia

  • Great Sphinx of Giza – Giza, Egypt

  • Statue of Liberty – United States

  • Taj Mahal – Agra, India

  • Tower Bridge – London, UK

Landmarkers allow Snapchatters the opportunity to engage with these well-known monuments in new, fun and engaging ways.
Activated via your Snapchat camera, each Landmarker uses AR technology to create a unique and shareable experience of each travel landmark.
