Owner operator of Feathertop Lodge John Alcorn is a very happy Falls Creek lodge owner this morning.

He and most operators at Victoria’s largest alpine resort are now positive about the remaining weeks of season 2013.Feath July

Alcorn has seen the transformation of the village in the last two days back to a true ski in – ski out alpine resort from his window.

“The snow we are getting this morning is exceptionally dry, its as good as you’d expect in Australia, light and fluffy,” said Alcorn. He’s also bullish about the prospect of more snow today, tomorrow and Tuesday.

“There’s a high forecast for the middle of the week, in between two snow -producing lows, that will result in really cold temperatures,  good for snowmaking.

“Currently it is blizzarding at Falls Creek and the radar is showing a huge bank of cloud about to smack us again. This low and a second forming south west of Melbourne will bring more snow tomorrow and probably Monday.

“It looks like a very strong southerly with lots of moisture. There’s another huge cold front crossing Perth which should hit us next weekend.”
