Sobbing woman and male anger in airline nightmare vid

It’s the last thing America’s airline industry needs – a viral video of a sobbing woman with a baby, an angry male flight attendant and a face-to-face confrontation with a male passenger that seems close to turning into a fight.

Video of the confrontation on Friday was uploaded to Facebook by passenger Surain Adyanthaya and has gone viral, being viewed over the weekend by more than 6 million people.

You can view it below.

The incident began when an American Airlines flight attendant allegedly took a stroller from a woman boarding Flight 591 from San Francisco to Dallas, and bumped or knocked her with it while she held a baby in her arms. One passenger reported an initial dispute over whether the woman could bring her stroller on the flight.

Adyanthaya wrote in the caption, “OMG! AA Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with her baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby.”

The recording does not capture the alleged stroller incident. It starts with a woman holding a baby and sobbing.

An unidentified male passenger later rises to intervene, saying, “What’s the guy’s name that did that with the stroller?”

A male flight attendant comes into frame and the male passenger says, “You do that to me and I’ll knock you flat.” The two men approach each other, seeming to be squaring up for a fight. “Hit me!” the airline staffer taunts and the passenger says, “I’ll knock you out.”

The captain then pulls the attendant away.

The clip may end up causing as much outrage as the recent video of the forcible eviction of a doctor from a United Airlines flight. He had refused to give up his seat to a United employee.

American issued a statement within hours of Friday’s incident, which was quoted by National Public Radio in the US: “The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.”

“What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident.”

The airline added that the woman and her family were upgraded to first class for the rest of their international trip.
