Sofitel Saigon Plaza Welcomes Canadian Singer/Pianist To Perform At Boudoir Lounge

Sofitel Saigon Plaza is pleased to welcome Mary Ancheta, a Canadian singer, composer, vocalist and pianist who will serenade guests from 25th February to 4th May 2014 at Boudoir Lounge. Show starts at 8pm, every Tuesdays until Sundays.

With the philosophy to connect people in all over the world through music, Mary inspired people by her unique melodies, intuitively mixing and matching musical compilations. She has entertained audiences internationally in Asia, the Middle East, across North America, and Europe.

Growing up in Hamilton, Ontario, Mary Ancheta taught piano at the Ontario Conservatory of Music where she attended McMaster University obtaining her B.A. in Music. At the early age of 15, she performed in an original band called “The Misunderstood”, playing alongside groups like “The Killjoys”, “The Walk” and “All Good Children”.

In 1998, Mary moved to the West coast and continued composing and teaching piano at Tom Lee.  When in Vancouver she released her own solo pop album entitled “Live Life”, as well as an electronic music album by her group Transient world entitled “All Things Transient”.  Her group “Transient World” garnered a lot of attention in film and television getting their music into shows such as America’s Next Top Model, Continuum, Sony Memory Stick Commercials, The L Word, and many more.  Their resume boasts over 50 song placements in film and TV. They also placed as finalists 2 years in a row in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.  During this time Mary also scored the film ‘Everyone’ which won the Golden Zenith award at the Montreal Film Festival.

Living in Bangkok for 2 months Mary worked on her new project “Montre Echo”.  In 2009 Mary released another collaboration entitled “The Near Forever” with co-conspirator and Grammy nominated pianist Geoffrey Keezer (Ray Brown, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Chris Botti).

Past notable performances include opening for John Mayer with Mani Khaira, playing a showcase and the Juno Awards Gala Dinner with Carly Rae Jepsen, Canadian tour with Buckman Coe, Virgin Music Festival and the Warped Tour Festival with the Vincent Black Shadow, CBC for Asian Heritage month, the Grand Opening of the MGM Grand hotel in Macau, Bocephus King tour in Italy and the Netherlands, 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, 2010 Vancouver Paralympics for the Italian athletes, performing for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, and a Command Performance  at City Hall in Bermuda for The Hon, Premier of Bermuda Mr. Craig Cannonier, J.P., M.P., and Mrs. Cannonier
