Someone ‘passed gas’ – aircraft evacuated

July 19, 2017 Headline News No Comments Email Email

A smell so overwhelmingly foul that passengers became sick and everyone had to be evacuated from an aircraft was caused by someone “passing gas”, a report said yesterday.

It seems that an unidentified passenger caused an appallingly pungent odour on the American Airlines plane, shortly before landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Authorities suspect that the person concerned passed gas or broke wind, an action colloquially known as farting.

According to CBS North Carolina, the resulting abominable stench left people on the flight nauseated, with some complaining of headaches and desperate to be taken off the plane.

Not guilty

Authorities investigated the incident and determined that one of the passengers had “passed gas,” the report said, adding that officials described it as a “medical call”. The flight log says “flatulence” according to one report.

Despite the unpleasant odour aboard, the plane landed without incident and passengers disembarked, gasping. No injury was reported. The culprit remains unknown. There were no reports of gas masks or sniffer dogs being deployed.
