Song-and-dance man gets everyone smiling at airport

Despite the occasional outburst of unruly in-flight misbehaviour, it’s worth remembering that most people have a pretty good time in the air – and at the airport, as a delightful new video shows.

A week ago, when passengers were asking a lot of questions at a US airport, a Southwest gate agent suggested, apparently in jest, that any more travellers asking questions would first have to sing a song.

The airport, appropriately, was Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans.

Complying with the gate agent’s request, a Southwest passenger borrowed the gate desk’s PA microphone and broke into “No Diggity” by Blackstreet.

Everyone loved it. They even sang along.

Facebook user Mike Vadala captured and posted the performance, and it proved so popular it had topped 6 million views at last glance.

So our gate at Nola Southwest required everyone who asked a question to sing. This guy went off.(UPDATE since I'm now a viral sensation: My kids are all musicians and are ALMOST as good as this guy. Check out MVT, MaryKate Vadala & Checks and Exes on Facebook!)

“So our gate at Nola Southwest required everyone who asked a question to sing,” Vadala wrote. “This guy went off.”

Nola, by the way, stands for New Orleans Louisiana.

A bit later, seeing that his post had gone ballistic on Facebook, Vadala added a hopeful footnote: “UPDATE since I’m now a viral sensation: My kids are all musicians and are ALMOST as good as this guy. Check out MVT, MaryKate Vadala & Checks and Exes on Facebook!”
