A unique chance to experience some of South America’s most spectacular destinations including the iconic Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, plus  an exploration of the mighty Amazon in all its glory.

In April 2022, luxury tour specialist, Latitude 33 will host its unforgettable Venture to Peru and the Amazon journey, beginning with a 7-day tour of Peru staying in some of the country’s most stunning hotels in Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, before embarking on a 22-night cruise along the Amazon and across the Atlantic onboard brand new, ultra-luxury, purpose-built expedition ship, Seabourn Venture.

This unique adventure begins in Lima, Peru on 2 April 2022, with a night at the luxurious Belmond Miraflores Park, its verdant gardens and a spectacular rooftop pool offering up endless Pacific views, where you will be treated to a welcome dinner at the hotel’s renowned Tragaluz Restaurant. From here the itinerary takes in the ancient city of Cusco, with its intriguing mix of Inca and Spanish heritage, staying at atmospheric Belmond Monasterio where guests will explore myriad historical sites including San Cristobal Plaza, the Inca Roca Palace, the splendid Koricancha Temple, the extraordinary Stone of the Twelve Angles and the aptly named Golden Precinct which once boasted walls lined in gold, not to mention a visit to the San Pedro Market for a chance to learn about some of Peru’s amazing local produce and favours.

This is followed by a night at Tambo Del Inka in the Sacred Valley with its sumptuous spa and award-winning Peruvian cuisine, before guests embark on a breathtaking journey aboard the exclusive Hiram Bingham train from the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, and onwards by bus to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. Staying one night at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, guests will enjoy a private guided tour of the site and its astonishing array of terraces and ceremonial shrines set against the dramatic backdrop of the Urubamba River canyon. Returning to Belmond Monasterio in Cusco for one more night, guests will arrive back atBelmond Miraflores Park in Lima on 7 April for a tour of the city’s historic centre, taking in the magnificent Santo Domingo Convent – home to an astonishing 25,000 15th and 16th century Dominican texts, its main square – the Plaza Mayor, and the breath-taking Lima Cathedral, as well as a visit to the nearby Larco Museum.

On 8 April, the next phase of this unique itinerary begins as guests fly to Iquitos, a vibrant jungle metropolis and the northern Amazon Basin’s chief city, to embark on a 22-night cruise on board expedition ship, Seabourn Venture. Featuring just 132 luxurious veranda suites, the custom built Venture has been designed to carry a complement of kayaks and 24 Zodiacs that can accommodate all guests at once. Even better, it will also house two custom-built submarines onboard, providing an unforgettable perspective of the world beneath the water’s surface. Plus, it will include a plethora of modern hardware and technology, as well as a team of experts, all guaranteeing a truly unforgettable expedition experience.

Once onboard, guests will explore the full length of the Amazon, from jungle-isolated Iquitos to the ocean, and across the Atlantic to the former Portuguese colony of Cape Verde. Along the way, scenic cruising and zodiac landings offer up an unparalleled opportunity to observe firsthand sloths, howler monkeys and rare pink river dolphins plus a range of other exotic flora and fauna not found anywhere else in the world.

Other highlights include stopovers at Manaus in Brazil, the largest city on the Amazon located near the famous ‘Meeting of the Waters’ where the Rio Negro meets the Rio Solimoes to form the Amazon; Boca dos Botos for a chance to discover a ‘flooded forest’; and the bustling port of Santarem, with its ‘Wedding of the Waters’ where the clear, dark Tapajos River meets the muddy ochre Amazon. A zodiac adventure exploring the banks of Amazing tributary, the Guajara River, sees guests journey to riverside buffalo farms where they can interact with locals, otherwise known as ‘caboclos’; while a visit to the coastal city of Macapa includes ceremony to commemorate the crossing of the equator.

Setting out the across the Atlantic, Venture calls at a former penal colony, the eerie Devil’s Island, located just off the coast of French Guiana; before arriving at Praia, the charming capital of Cape Verde, on the southern coast of Santiago Island, on 29 April. This extraordinary journey concludes on 30 April 2022 when guests disembark for a short flight to Dakar in Senegal on the African mainland and their onward flight home.
