Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta invites guests to embark on a gastronomic journey to the Korean culinary landscape with the visit of South Korea’s celebrity chef, Edward Kwon, from 27 to 29 August 2015.
Still basking in the glow of his fame for his three successful restaurants back in Seoul, authoring cook books and hosting on radio and television shows, Chef Kwon is now ready to tackle his next challenge. Flown in to Jakarta by Garuda Indonesia, the charming culinary sensation has made it his mission to globalise his country’s delectable cuisines and coming to Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta will bring him one step closer towards his goal.
On 27 August 2015, 50 VIPs are welcomed to join in a special four-course dinner at Rosso. Media friends will also be invited to the dinner, where they can enjoy the privilege to be up close and personal with the culinary maven and be the first one to delve into his masterful creations. During the dinner, Chef Kwon will mingle amongst the media friends, who will have exclusive access to the chef.
Jakarta’s culinary enthusiasts are also invited to join the feast through an exclusive gala dinner at the hotel’s elaborate Grand Ballroom on 28 August 2015. Diners can indulge in a five-course degustation menu offering Chef Kwon’s signature Korean-inspired culinary creations.
To add a little twist to the feast, Chef Kwon will team up with the hotel’s Executive Chef Marc Cibrowius and heat up the grill with a live cooking demonstration showcasing their innovative cooking artistry.
The ballroom will be adorned in an elaborate Korean-infused décor and guests can immerse in a line-up of traditional and contemporary Korean performances while witnessing the two chefs giving birth to an exceptional dish through their ultimate collaboration. This event will be available for 250 limited seats and reservation is required.
During Chef Kwon’s visit, SATOO will also dedicate a special Korean open kitchen station on 29 August 2015 during the Korean Food Festival. Chef Kwon will make a special appearance during lunch time to present several of his creations, including a dish he specially crafted for Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. The dish will be a part of SATOO’s ala carte menu and become one of the restaurant’s signature items.
The special VIP dinner can be enjoyed at Rp. 1,288,000++ per person with 50 limited seats available, while the exclusive gala dinner can be enjoyed at Rp. 988,000++ per person with 250 limited seats available.
