South West Germany‘s winter offerings

egtmedia59Buoyed by record number of visitors from India during the first half of this year, South West Germany presented its winter offerings for travelers on Monday in Mumbai. Presentations at Hyderabad on Wednesday and in Delhi on Thursday and Friday will follow.

Michael Siebert, Consul General, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mumbai said: “Gentle slopes of South West Germany are good for those who’ve never been on the ski. Scenic landscapes, beautiful castles and Lake Constance add to the experience.”Feldberg Mountain during Winter

The region is known for wellness options and for serving variety cuisine, not just Germany’s popular sausages. The Black Forest Highland region offers 170 ski lifts, 250 kilometers of prepared slopes, 22 ski jumps and more than 1000 miles of cross-country ski –tracks.

Hector D’souza, Director India, South West German Tourism said: “South West Germany is good for winter sports for families and friends. Ski, sledge and aerial views on ski-lift rides are available from 20 December till end of March. Beginners can try a three day skiing lessons package that is available for € 210.”

Dozens of artificial rinks are available in addition to natural lake ice. It’s possible to enjoy best of luxury hotels and hotels with spa facilities that have good offers during winters. Subsidised city cards are available for travel within the region.

Samir Savani, partner, Savani travel hub, told eGTM: “Skiing in Germany comes at half the price paid in Switzerland. Self drive is also popular with my clients. I have sold 80 self-drive packages to Germany this year. ”

Indian tourists have set a record with 12.5 percent increase in visitor numbers (12867) from January to June 2013 against last year among worldwide visitors to the region. Indians also stay the longest at 5.8 days average and spend €175 per day.
