Baillie Lodges’ award-winning Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island has been voted the best resort in Australia in the Conde Nast Traveler 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards’ Top 20 Resorts in Australia and the South Pacific category announced today.

Southern Ocean Lodge scored 98.86 from a possible 100 in this year’s 32nd annual Readers’ Choice Survey.

In 2019, a record 600,000 readers submitted ratings and comments to put forward their recent experiences of the world’s most esteemed resorts, with votes for almost 10,000 resorts received.

2019 also marks Conde Nast’s first year as a united global brand, where the annual surveys in the US and the UK have been combined as one global Readers’ Choice Awards list.

Baillie Lodges Founder and Executive Chairman James Baillie said the recognition in the new global Conde Nast Readers’ Choice awards was especially significant as it represented the endorsement from some of the world’s most extensive and discerning travellers.

“Condé Nast Traveler is a very prestigious title and we’re proud its readers have chosen to show their support for Baillie Lodges’ flagship property, Southern Ocean Lodge among the top resorts in Australia and the South Pacific,” Mr Baillie said.

“We consider the awards a reflection of the outstanding guest experience consistently delivered at Southern Ocean Lodge since it opened in 2008, and of the ongoing hard work and passion on the part of the team.”
