China continues to be in the focus of many countries looking for this new source both in tourism and investment. Two joint China workshops during the World Travel Market WTM in London on Nov. 4th provide the latest background knowledge and practical tipps for the market.

54 million border-crossings out of Mainland China have been counted for the first half of 2014 alone, representing for the first time more than 10% of the 517 million international travel reported by the UNWTO. At the same time Chinese official and private investors are snapping up companies, real estate and infrastructure around the world, spending than 100 billion US$ per year, creating business travel in the wake of the movement of money.

COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (Germany/China) and CBN China Business Network (UK/China) are jointly offering a free workshop as part of the event program of the WTM 2014 on Nov. 4th between 11.00 and 12.00 h in South Gallery 15/16 at the ExCeL in London. Participation is free of charge for all exhibitors and visitors of the fair. After a break with Chinese snacks, at 12.30 h VisitBritain continues in the same venue with a panel discussion on the situation of China’s outbound tourism to the UK.

The COTRI/CBN workshop is chaired by COTRI’s director Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, who will introduce the latest trends and figures of China’s Outbound Tourism. Dr. Adam Wu, COO of CBN informs about Chinese investors and corporate travellers as an important segment China’s outbound market. The third workshop participant, Mr. Saeed Azam, Marketing Manager of Iran Doostan Tours, will provide a tour operators view from a newly developing destination. Ample time is reserved for questions from the audience during the workshop as well as in the networking break afterwards.

Prof. Arlt, Director of COTRI: “Our COTRI WTM China workshops in recent years were very well attended. We have moved to a bigger room this year, but I still advise interested participants to reserve a seat by sending an email or to arrive before 11.00 h.”

COTRI is exhibiting during WTM London 2014 from Nov. 3-6 at booth GV400.
