There are those who may want to get into the atmosphere of the races without being trackside. For these racing enthusiasts, Melba Restaurant is hosting a very special race day lunch on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 1 November.
Hosted by The Langham, Melbourne’s ambassador, Gorgi Coghlan and with live entertainment by Fem Belling, best known for her appearance on The Voice, the day is certain to be memorable for all those that attend.
Oversized plasma screens will broadcast the action taking place at Flemington Racecourse while guests will dine from Melba Restaurant’s expansive and varied international inter-active kitchens. In addition, as a special keepsake from the day, every guest will be presented with a signature print from renowned illustrator Kerrie Hess.
The lunches kick off from 12.30pm on race day. $129.00 per person is inclusive of free flowing sparkling wine and a full size OPI nail polish, a White Glo gift duo including overnight dissolving whitening films and extra strength whitening toothpaste, a miniature MOR hand cream and Keune So Pure Moroccan Oil.

Gorgi Coghlan, will be on the lookout for the best dressed guest and best hat and will be awarding the sartorially splendid with fantastic prize including a Kerrie Hess designer phone case, a $500.00 Ted Baker handbag, a $150.00 hamper from MOR and a $100.00 White Glo hamper. There are also 10 Mercedes Benz weekend vouchers to be won.
Fem Belling will entertain guests in between the races with some of her favourite acoustic jazz songs.
In addition, every guest will be given an A5 print from the award-winning Kerrie Hess. Best known for her feminine, chic and romantic designs, the print will be the ideal memento for what promises to be a memorable lunch.
Cup Day traditionally attracts couples and families wishing to celebrate Melbourne Cup day. On Melbourne Cup Day, the backdrop of the Yarra River and a grazing buffet laden with everything from Champagne lobster, king prawns, oysters, blue swimmer crab, five spice duck pancakes, crispy roast pork, Peri Peri roast chicken, grilled sirloin steak, house made shu mai dumplings and a decadent dessert station with Bailey’s chocolate fountain, strawberries and cream macarons, tiramisu éclairs, farmhouse cheeses and ice cream and guests are destined to have a day to remember.
