Wagyu Mafia at Baba Hot Box

Founded by Takafumi Horie and Hisato Hamada, Wagyu Mafia is an acclaimed Japanese restaurant in Tokyo’s Akasaka neighbourhood that is devoted to advocating the treasured Japanese beef produce and is well-known for placing the winning bid on the world’s most expensive cut of Kobe beef.

Renowned as an elite Japanese steakhouse serving only the most premium grade beef to their members, the restaurant’s talented and dynamic chef Satoshi Nagayama will visit Thailand to serve a special Wagyu Omakase menu using only the freshest ingredients locally sourced in Phuket.

The pop-up will be held at Baba Hot Box, the resort’s BBQ grill dining experience which offers guests a mouth-watering combination of premium grilled meats and seafood using a traditional Spanish Josper BBQ.

Sushi Tokami at Baba IKI

This Michelin-starred restaurant in Tokyo offers guests a unique dining experience in which food is prepared using the traditional Edo-mae style sushi, crafted with only the freshest fish and finest ingredients and seasonings from the local waters surrounding Tokyo.

Hailing from Japan, the restaurant’s leading chef, Hiroyuki Sato has spent much of his career working in renowned sushi and kaiseki ryori restaurants across the country. In 2014, he joined Sushi Tokami, a sushi restaurant in Tokyo where he earned an internationally acclaimed Michelin Star after only six months.

A remarkable sushi master, gifted with an ability to elegantly match ingredients using modern techniques, Chef Hiroyuki Sato will visit the resort and develop his special Sushi Omakase menu served along with a bottle of Sake, using the freshest fish and finest ingredients that Phuket has to offer.

The pop-up will be hosted at Baba IKI, which offers guests a truly authentic Japanese dining experience in a contemporary and relaxed interior; seating up to 60 people around the sushi bar, teppanyaki bar and communal long wooden table or outdoors on the deck. Located on the second floor of Baba Poolclub, the restaurant also enjoys breathtaking views of the Andaman Sea and South-eastern tip of Phuket.

Mr Vorasit ‘Wan’ Issara, Managing Director of Sri panwa says, “We are so excited to welcome the Wagyu Mafia and Sushi Tokami pop-ups to the resort. This is the second time we have invited internationally acclaimed chefs to create a unique, five-star dining experience for our guests. Last year we welcomed my mentor, Michelin-Starred chef Stefano Baiocco to the resort, to share his special eight-course menu which drew influences from modern Italian and Thai cuisines. This was a great success and we know guests will also love the delicious dishes developed by Wagyu Mafia and Sushi Tokami.”

Since its inception over 10 years ago, Sri panwa has become renowned as a premier gastronomical destination on the south-eastern tip of Phuket. The resort offers guests a variety of global gourmet experiences and plans to continue welcoming internationally acclaimed chefs to host unique pop-ups within its six dining locations.

The special menus will be available to guests for THB 18,000 per person inclusive of a bottle of Sake, with the seating at each restaurant commencing at 6pm. For bookings contact reservations at chill@sripanwa.com
