Pioneers in unique and exceptional experiences, Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris introduces the third initiative, as a part of its award-winning English Classics Reinvented campaign at St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel. Breathing a new lease of life to our best-loved books this award-winning campaign sees Taj’s five-star London hotel partner with contemporary British artists to create a celebratory edition of literary classics, combined with a host of innovative themed culinary extravaganzas. Inspired by the world’s favourite sleuth, Sherlock Holmes – the launch of the third edition of English Classics Reinvented includes the creation of a bespoke limited edition hardback book, designed by British creative design agency Oi. In addition, a programme of Sherlock-themed experiences are set to be unveiled throughout the year.

The Sherlock Holmes Afternoon Tea, launching on April 18th, will provide the ultimate tea experience for the discerning gentleman, with craft ale and select whiskey pairings. Showcasing a mystifying selection of culinary rarities infused with alcoholic delights from Taj’s Classic Cocktails Reinvented Series, the tea takes inspiration from many of Sherlock’s intriguing attributes. The 221 B Macaroon is imbued with 25-year-old Scotch, whilst the Moriarty’s Bomb is a tantalizingly alluring coffee and Bailey’s Cheesecake. The Sherlock Holmes Smoky Cigar arrives in the form of a smoked caramel mousse, and Watson’s Moustache, is the ultimate boozy addition in the form of a Stout Cupcake.

The selection of savoury sandwiches is inspired by The Sign of The Four, the second of the Sherlock Holmes novels. The Five Orange Pips, named after one of the short stories, features an intriguing combination of smoked salmon with orange flavoured horseradish, while the more traditional “Hound of Baskerville, includes a filling of roast beef and English mustard – the explosion of flavours leaves no stone unturned.

The bespoke cover design for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s much-revered classic, Sherlock Holmes, subtly discloses various trademarks from the immortal detective in one multi-layered image – from the Westminster Skyline to Sherlock’s pipe and deerstalker hat.

The first of the English Classics Reinvested series, a bespoke 150th Anniversary Limited Edition print of Lewis Carroll’s iconic classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, was unveiled in 2015 whilst the second in the series saw the bespoke celebratory edition of The Jungle Book, in partnership with the Born Free Foundation launch in 2016.

The Sherlock Holmes Afternoon Tea will be available to book from 18th April onwards and costs £35 per person.
