STA Travel, the world’s largest student, youth and budget travel organisation, has partnered with Dubai Tourism to encourage young Australians to discover the desert destination.
The partnership comes off the back of an increase in demand from Australian travellers looking to enjoy a different culture, and seeking more than a stopover destination from the entertainment hub of Dubai.
According to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, a total of 13.2 million tourists visited Dubai in 2014, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.2 percent, significantly higher than the global average of 4.7 percent.
The inaugural Dubai Tourism Innovation Award, launched at STA Travel’s Annual Awards night sponsored by Dubai Tourism, will reward one hard-working STA Travel agent with an all-expenses paid trip to Dubai where they will take part in the activities that Dubai is famous for: board safaris, sky diving, shopping in its world class malls, eating out and enjoying the vibrant night life.
The awards night was themed ‘Arabian Nights’ to highlight the partnership and Andrea Robinson, STA Travel’s Product Trading & Marketing Director said the night was a credit to the ongoing relationship between STA Travel and Dubai Tourism.
“The STA Annual Awards night was a huge success, and we were delighted to launch the first Dubai Tourism Innovation Award. We are excited to be working with Dubai Tourism to promote the vibrant country to a young Australian audience.”
“No longer do Aussies consider Dubai simply a stopover destination, it has become a hub for entertainment and adventure, two of the things that our travellers love most,” she added.
