STA Travel and Tourism New Zealand are teaming up to offer Australians the ultimate New Zealand ski trip as part of a new partnership which encourages Australian travellers to visit their close neighbour.

STA Travel statistics show that the 2013 ski season saw a 92% growth in the number of travellers to Queenstown when compared to 2012. STA Travel also reported travellers more than doubling to Queenstown when snowfall peaked in July.

Natalie Placko Thornton, STA Travel’s Marketing and e-Commerce Director says STA Travel expects the number of people booking ski packages to continue to increase in 2014.

“We are expecting a bumper ski season in New Zealand. More and more Australians are travelling over to take advantage of the magic of fresh powder snow and, of course, to celebrate with the locals over après,” she said.

Expected growth in the numbers of Australians going to New Zealand to ski is supported by recent research by STA Travel that found Australians are increasingly hot for cold destinations with three of the top 14 destinations being the especially chilly Reykjavik, Moscow and Antarctica.  STA Travel is excited to offer a great winter package a bit closer to home.

“Australian travellers love ski holidays and winter escapes, and New Zealand is the perfect destination for someone looking for a trip that provides amazing ski slopes and cultural destinations without breaking the bank,” Natalie explained.

STA Travel and Tourism New Zealand are also working with popular travel blogger Mister Weekender who will be travelling to New Zealand in April to explore the South Island and document her winter adventures on Instagram.

“We’re very excited to be sending Mister Weekender to explore New Zealand. Having worked with her before we know she has such an amazing outlook on life and always makes the most of any travel opportunity. We know she will share the best New Zealand has to offer with her followers, as well as ours,” said Natalie.
