Star Clippers’ World Awards

October 25, 2013 Accolades No Comments Email Email

Star Clippers, operators of three of the world’s largest and tallest sailing ships, has chalked up its fourth major international cruise award in just over 18 months.
The latest is a place among Condé Nast Traveller magazine’s Top Small-Ship Lines in the publication’s new 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards.

In July, Star Clippers was named among the Top Small-Ship Cruise Lines in Travel + Leisure magazine’s 2013 World’s Best Awards, and earned top honours at the 2012 World Travel Awards, taking home World’s Leading Luxury Sailing Cruise Company and World’s Leading Green Cruise Line.RCmast12

The Condé Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Awards are considered among the most prestigious in the travel industry. They are awarded on the basis of a readers’ poll of preferences segmented into various categories including hotels, airlines, resorts and safari camps, islands and cruise lines.

“To be recognized by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller in a category with many of the luxury and ultra-luxury cruise brands is an honour,” said Andy Lovering, Director of Sales and Marketing. “This award is a result of the dedication we have to creating memorable experiences and unique adventures on every Star Clippers sailing.”

The selection criteria used to determine the best cruise lines include activities and facilities, cabins, crew and service, design and layout, food and dining, as well as itineraries. Readers give each criterion a rating using a scale that ranges from excellent to poor.

The Readers’ Choice Awards were developed in 1988 to recognize excellence in the travel and tourism industry. According to the publication, in 2013 nearly 80,000 readers took part in the survey, casting 1.3 million votes.

Star Clippers combines the pampered lifestyle of mega-yacht cruising with the thrill of sailing aboard an authentic clipper ship. Guests rediscover what sailing was like during the glorious age of the tall ships while visiting intimate ports of call untouched by larger ships.

With just 170 or 227 guests, there are no long lines and no crowds on a Star Clippers vacation. Passengers dress in resort-casual attire and dine in one unhurried, open seating.

Seven-night cruises in the Mediterranean in 2014 start at  $2725 including port taxes and all meals and activities on board.
