Starwood Hotels & Resorts Expands Presence in Thailand with the Debut of Sheraton Samui Resort

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced its world-renowned Sheraton brand will continue to expand its footprint in Thailand with the signing of Sheraton Samui Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand’s second largest island after Phuket.

The agreement with TCC Hotels Group, a member of the TCC Land Group, marks the conversion of the existing 141-room Imperial Samui Beach Resort to a Sheraton, anticipated to take place by December 2014.

Sheraton Samui Resort marks the 7th property managed by Starwood under the ownership of TCC Hotels Group and is testament to the strength of the relationship. The other six properties that have resulted from the long-term partnership inAsia Pacific includes the Le Meridien Angkor, Le Meridien Bangkok, Le Meridien Chiang Mai, Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui and The Westin Kuala Lumpur; alongside Plaza Athenee, a Royal Meridien Hotel that recently re-committed to an extension under Starwood’s management.

Koh Samui is within easy reach with near to hourly departures to and from Bangkok, and excellent direct international accessibility from key feeder markets such as Hong Kong and Singapore. Approximately a 15-minute drive from the Koh Samui International Airport, Sheraton Samui Resort sits on Chaweng Noi Beach, one of the most beautiful and longest stretches of white sandy beach on the east coast of Koh Samui. The town of Chaweng, a vibrant shopping and entertainment area, is also only a short 3km away.

On completion of the rebranding works, guests can enjoy all the Sheraton brand’s popular amenities and services including the signature Link@Sheraton® experienced with Microsoft® where guests can come together to meet, connect and relax. In addition, all 141 guest rooms will feature the signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper™ Bed with a plush mattress and luxurious sheets. In addition, the resort will open the brand’s signature Shine Spa for Sheraton™ and also include a well-equipped gym with the brand’s revolutionary health and fitness program, Sheraton® Fitness by Core Performance™. Sheraton Samui Resort will also feature a Kids’ Club and Feast, the brand’s all-day dining concept; alongside a plethora of dining venues including the beach and pool bars, Sky Light Lounge and Tara Restaurant. Guests can also continue to enjoy the resort’s swimming pools – a fresh water swimming pool and the salt water swimming pool that offers breathtaking views of the Gulf ofThailand.

Sheraton Samui Resort is the newest addition to Starwood’s dynamic portfolio of 23 properties in Thailand under eight of its brands: St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Le Méridien, Aloft and Four Points by Sheraton. Sheraton currently operates five hotels in the Thai kingdom, including Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, Sheraton Hua Hin Pranburi Villas, Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, and Sheraton Pattaya Resort. AndSheraton Samui Resort will be Starwood’s fourth property on Thailand’s second largest island following the successes ofVana Belle, A Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui, W Retreat Koh Samui, and Le Meridien Koh Samui Resort & Spa.
