Still Your Safest Bet For Protecting Valuables While Travelling

September 16, 2015 Insurance No Comments Email Email

In response to an article which appeared on News.com.au this week regarding concerns about the security of hotel safes, InsureandGo recommends that travellers can continue to leave their valuables, such as their passport, jewellery or credit cards in their hotel safe in order to ensure they are covered in the event of theft.

Julius Paramour, Operations Manager, InsureandGo says, “Our various travel insurance policies will cover travellers in the event that anything is stolen from a safe in their hotel room, as long as the safe has been locked properly. However, for extra piece of mind, if you do have any particularly expensive or sentimental items, you should speak with the hotel management to see if they are able to secure them in the larger hotel safe. Importantly, make sure you read your product disclosure statement for your travel insurance so that you know what you’re covered for and if unsure contact your travel insurer for more information.”
