Based on daily data from December, Singapore reported:
- increases in supply (+2.6%) and demand (+4.2%);
- a 1.6% increase in occupancy to 78.8%;
- a 3.5% decrease in average daily rate to SGD289.79; and
- a 2.0% decrease in revenue per available room to SGD228.36.
Singapore saw a strong pickup in demand for the month with holiday travel likely being a factor, according to STR Global analysts. The weekend prior to Christmas produced a double-digit lift in occupancy. On 25 and 26 December, occupancy reached 89.0%. On New Year’s Eve, occupancy was 96.7%, a 14.2% increase in year-over-year comparisons.
