Participants from every state and territory, representing local, regional and State Tourism Organisations, Tourism Australia, attractions, accommodation, air services and inbound tour operators are represented in this year’s cohort of 32 Emerging Leaders of Inbound Tourism Excellence (ELITE).

Now in its 5th year, the program is run by the Australia Tourism Export Council (ATEC) and sponsored by Tourism Australia and Learning Ventures who have supported the program since its inception.

ELITE provides emerging tourism leaders with a platform to extend their industry knowledge and develop their leadership skills, providing them with a senior industry mentor to who gives valuable guidance and advice along with way.

“ELITE is a fantastic opportunity for people who are passionate about the tourism industry to really accelerate their understanding, connections and leadership in the sector,” ATEC Managing Director Peter Shelley said.

“Mentoring is a really important component of the program, providing our participants with   highly experienced, expert advice, helping them to build industry contacts, and broadening their understanding of the industry.

“ELITE is a commitment from ATEC and our partners to provide a pathway for those people in our industry who want to help lead our industry into the future.”

As part of the program, participants form teams and work in a Learning Circle model which builds on their collective knowledge, skills and experience to increase learning results.

Tasked with providing solutions for real life industry problems from an Australian regional destination, the teams present their reports to an audience of senior industry leaders at ATEC’s Meeting Place event in November.
