egtmedia59Visit USA committee(VUSACOM) India released a white paper on MICE USA at the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai last week to highlight the strengths of USA for attracting Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions(MICE) travelers.

Manoj Gursahani, President, Visit USA Committee-India said: “The United States offers some of the best and affordable sightseeing, accommodation, shopping, dining, meeting and convention facilities. We aim to make the US a top destination for Indian tourists, especially for MICE travel”.Manoj Gursahani, President, VUSACOM India with US diplomats in India Dan Gedacht, Peter Haas, Julia Stanley and Camille Richardson at the release event in Mumbai

The white paper has analyzed the current market scenario, statistics on travel trends, challenges and solutions to help agencies to significantly reduce corporate clients’ MICE travel costs for US destinations.

Ashwini Kakkar, Founder President, Visit USA Committee-India said: “In the rapidly evolving travel and tourism scenario, United States is fast emerging as a value destination full of rich and unique experiences. Value buying opportunities exist across every aspect of the trip.”

The US is perhaps the only country that is granting every visitor a ten year multiple entry visa. The cost for this at Rs 10,880 also works much cheaper when compared with short term visas offered by other countries.

Peter D. Haas, Consul General, U. S. Consulate General, Mumbai, India, said: “It’s myth that US visa is difficult and takes long time to obtain. Appointments for visa are available within a week. Most applicants spend less than an hour in the consulate and have their visas in 2 to 3 working days.

Applying for a visa just takes three easy steps. Requesting a group appointment and filling out the application, paying of fees and scheduling interview and biometrics appointments.

US Consular Team India issued 600,000 visas in 2012, with over 80 percent of all applicants approved.

U.S. attracts US $ 100 billion of annual MICE business. India is the 12th top market for International visitors to the US. Business travelers constituted 26.3 percent of all Indian travelers to the US in 2010, a 20 percent jump from 2009.

Airfares to US from India are only 20 percent more than that of flying to Europe, which is at half the distance. Airfares within the US are also affordable. Accommodation comes across ranges and at a significantly lesser cost in downtown suburbs and smaller cities. International cuisine is widely available. Excellent highway infrastructure ensures smooth drives at economical prices. The US is a shoppers’ haven with top brands and throughout the year discount offers.

The US has state-of the art convention centers and a mix of cultural and recreational experiences. The country is a favourite adventure destination offering variety activities at its natural wonders.  It has invested well in sports facilities and has some of the best museums, art galleries, zoos and monuments. It also leads in amusement parks.

MICE USA, a unique B2B event will be held in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai on 16, 18 and 20 June 2014 respectively.

Gursahani said: “With corporate world pushing for downgrading of travel related luxuries and the Indian corporate traveler’s continued fascination with what the US has to offer, travel agencies in India have to work harder to offer cost-efficient MICE trips to the US”.
