Sudden switch as NYC & Company appoints Walshe

egtmedia59NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation, has appointed The Walshe Group as its representative agency for Australia and New Zealand.

Walshe will handle sales, marketing and public relations in the region. NYC & Company was formerly represented by Aviaraps.

The Walshe Group, with its head office in Sydney, will from now on work with NYC & Company to strengthen New York City’s reach as a primary brand and destination for travelers from Australia and New Zealand.

“The Walshe Group will be an asset to NYC & Company as we seek to further expand New York City’s share of the growing Australia and New Zealand travel market,” said Fred Dixon, NYC & Company’s President & chief executive.

“We are eager to enhance our work in market with the travel trade as well as the consumer and trade media to promote the five boroughs to travellers from every corner of this important region.”

In 2013, New York City welcomed 619,000 visitors from Australia and 26,000 from New Zealand. Australia and New Zealand remain a strong source of international visitors to New York City, ranking within its top five overseas markets.
