The 2014 Brisbane Airport/ Wyndham Resorts Corporate Surf Challenge presented by Primitive Surf will be held at Duranbah Beach, Gold Coast on October 3rd.

And once again Hawaiian Airlines is proud to be providing the opportunity for participants to win free flights to Hawaii…

Proceeds from this year’s charity event will go to the FSHD Global Research Foundation – an Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for Facioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD).

The FSHD Global Research Foundation has funding available for research directed at the twin goals of better understanding the human disease Facioscapulohumeral Dystrophy and

identifying treatments.

FSHD funding comes from individuals afflicted by FSHD, their friends, supporters and corporate sponsors.

To spice up the competition, the surfing services of a couple of surfing legends are auctioned off to the highest bidders.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific was a newcomer to the event in 2013 and enjoyed winning the event so much they have come back this year as major sponsors along with Brisbane Airport Corporation. (We are assured the win had nothing to do with Wyndham making the highest bid and securing the services of former world surfing champion, Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo.)

Barry Robinson, CEO and Managing Director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific said: “The 2014 Brisbane Airport and Wyndham Resorts Corporate Surf Challenge presents a fun and exciting way for your company to support the FSHD Global Research Foundation on their quest to treat, and find a cure for, Facioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD).”

“This amazing foundation funds a number of research initiatives each year, without the aid of government or MDA support, so we are very pleased to be involved in such a great cause. I encourage you to join us in supporting this wonderful event.”

Julieanne Alroe, CEO & Managing Director, Brisbane Airport Corporation, added her voice to the cause saying: “Brisbane Airport Corporation invites you to join us at the fourth Annual Corporate Surf Challenge to raise funds for the FSHD Global Research Foundation.”

“By sponsoring a team of your staff and guests, or taking one of the many exciting sponsorship packages, you can be part of this fun and important event.”

The FSHD Global Research Foundation has funded 22 research projects over the past six years in the USA, Netherlands, Italy, France, Belgium, Canada and Australia.
