Sule Shangri-La, Yangon Launches Paperless Check-in and Check-out system

Sule Shangri-La, Yangon recently introduced the first and only paperless check-in and check-out system in Myanmar. This low-carbon initiative is part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
This new process has eliminated the use of paper registration cards and room billing displaying all information on a tablet computer instead. Guests sign on the tablet with a stylus and can receive bills electronically at a preferred e-mail address. This green system simplifies the check-in and check-out process and enhances guests’ overall stay experience.

The new system will greatly reduce the use of paper and result in a projected saving of thousands of pieces of papers annually.

The hotel has 479 remodelled rooms including suites, and has taken many initiatives in it’s CSR drive. The in-room bathroom amenities, it use packaging made from biodegradable material printed with soy-based ink.  This material can decompose by 70 per cent within 80 days.  “Use and reuse” cards in the room and gently reminds guests of recommendations regarding the changing of bed linen, and reuse of bath towels.Green cleaning agents have been introduced in the housekeeping of rooms as an alternative to more commercial agents which require the use of a lot of water.
