The Suncheon Bay Garden expo has completed a new round of redecoration with additional species of flowers and shrubs to greet the summer season, the organizing committee said Monday.

During the 10-day renovation, a total of 360,000 landscape plants of 33 different species have been replanted across 9,927 square meters, the committee said. Newly added species include cannas, lilies, millets, capers and melampodium, as well as summer plants like begonias and dichondra that flower in the rainy season.

The expo has carried out redecorations at its gardens and exhibitions on a monthly basis to allow visitors to fully enjoy the changing seasons, the committee said. It plans to replant a total of 2.5 million plants of 231 species during the course of the event.

The International Garden Exposition Suncheon Bay Korea 2013 opened on April 16 under the theme of “Garden of the Earth” to exhibit a vast range of wetlands, gardens and green paths stretching across 1.1 million square meters.

It offers scenic views of 83 different types of exotic gardens as well as a variety of cultural events, exhibitions and performances running daily to entertain visitors.

Located near Suncheon Bay, one of the world’s top coastal wetlands, the event will run until Oct. 20.
