This Friday Hamilton Island will be the host destination for a live television wedding on Channel Seven’s Sunrise breakfast program.

The entire show, presented by David Koch and new female co-host Samantha Armytage, will also be broadcast live from the Island, with the full Sunrise team including Kochie, Sam, Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta all on Hamilton Island for the occasion, along with executive producer Michael Pell. Sunrise weather will also be broadcast live on Thursday and Friday mornings.

Sunrise and Hamilton Island ran a competition in May offering viewers the opportunity to win an all expenses paid wedding on Hamilton Island, valued at AU$50,000.  All viewers had to do was submit a 60 second video on why they would like to get married on Hamilton Island.  Sunrise had an overwhelming response to the competition and one lucky couple from Tasmania are now about to exchange vows in their dream location, and in front of a national audience, the entire Sunrise crew and 40 close family and friends.

Hamilton Island’s General Manager of Marketing, Denny-Lyn Dixon said, ‘Hamilton Island is an iconic Australian holiday destination and also an ideal location to get married.  We host over 500 weddings a year and have countless honeymooners from all around the world stay with us.  We are delighted to partner with Sunrise on this unique opportunity. The live nature of the coverage gives us a way to genuinely showcase the many wonderful aspects of Hamilton Island and the Whitsundays to a national TV audience.’

Following the live broadcast the Sunrise team will enjoy a mini holiday on Hamilton Island along with 130 of their viewers.  A limited number of holiday packages were offered to viewers, providing them with the opportunity to join the Sunrise team for the weekend.  The package, which included accommodation, an exclusive Whitsunday Island cruise, a welcome cocktail party and dinner were so popular they sold out in just one hour.

Also performing live on the show will be US pop duo MKTO, the latest sensation to emerge from the US. MKTO will be performing their ARIA top 10 hits ‘Thank You’ and ‘Classic’.

Tune in on Channel Seven from 6:00am Friday morning to see the show unfold. To find out more about a Hamilton Island holiday, visit www.hamiltonisland.com.au.
