Surprise Marriage Proposal at TravelManagers’ National Conference

TravelManagers’ Western Australia based personal travel manager Kristen Rayson, representative for Sinagra had more reason than most to celebrate on the opening night aboard the Voyager of the Seas at the recent TravelManagers’ national conference.

Rayson and her partner of three years Sam Robinson got engaged moments before attending the cocktail party on the first night.

“When Sam got down on one knee in our cabin I thought he was teasing me. My initial reaction was, ‘Are you serious?’ but this was quickly followed by, ‘If I say yes, you can’t take it back you know?’ When Sam assured me he was serious I said I was just thrilled. It was a complete surprise but a fantastic photo1one,” says Rayson.

Robinson, not a self-confessed romantic, knew the Voyager of the Seas was where he wanted to propose to Rayson.

“We had travelled to Europe and I know Kristen was hoping for places like the Eiffel Tower, Mt Vesuvius, the canals of Venice or even the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, however none of these felt the right place to propose. Somehow being in Sydney on a cruise, both things that we hadn’t done before felt right, so I did it. The proposal went to plan, Kristen said yes and I couldn’t be happier,” says Robinson.

The reaction from fellow personal travel managers to the proposal has been incredible.

“I have only recently joined the TravelManagers’ family earlier this year and it has been the best decision I’ve made. Everyone has been congratulating us, either on the ship or on our Facebook page. The TravelManagers team is like having an extended family and as our immediate family was not onboard with us, this was definitely the next best thing,” says Rayson.

No wedding plans have been formally set, with a family combined wedding and holiday overseas incorporating the couple’s combined five children high on the agenda.

“My first TravelManagers’ conference has been incredibly exciting, and I can’t wait to see what will happen in Singapore next August,” says Rayson with a cheeky grin.
