Andrew Harper 2013 Readers’ Choice Winners Announced Today, Revealing Top Hideaways, City Hotels, Beach Resorts, Family Escapes,  Food & Wine Properties, Golf Destinations, Spas and Safari Lodges.

The annual Andrew Harper Reader Survey released today predicts significant growth in luxury travel, with 33 percent of respondents planning to travel more than in the previous year and 58 percent saying they would travel at least the same amount as in 2013. Readers of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report typically travel 35 days a year for leisure, with the average trip spanning 11 days.

This year’s Reader Survey lists 136 hotels in 115 destinations. These are featured in the September digital edition of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report.

Italy, France and England remain the three favorite countries of Hideaway Report readers. However, this year’s survey also demonstrated the appeal of exotic destinations such as Cambodia, Fiji and Botswana.

Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, California, is named the No. 1 U.S. Hideaway for the sixth year in a row.

Notable newcomers on the list of International Hideaways include Ireland’sBallyfin Demesne and Zarafa Camp in Botswana.

Said Mr. Harper: “Hideaway Report readers are very loyal to their favorite hotels, hence the annual reappearance of enduring classics such as the Post Ranch Inn, Blackberry Farm and The Lowell, but they are also keen to experiment and to be adventurous. Much of the pleasure I derive from editing The Hideaway Report stems from the awareness that my readers are active travelers with both the inclination and the financial means to follow in my footsteps. If I review favorably a resort like Southern Ocean Lodge, located on a tiny island off the southern coast of Australia, I know that before long, Hideaway Report readers will begin to arrive. That knowledge is a privilege and a pleasure, but also a huge responsibility.”

Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report is a leading source of information about luxury travel, having provided candid and insightful reviews to its subscribers for more than 34 years.
