Survey Reveals Aussie Travel Spending Trends ahead of Easter Holidays (Mastercard Survey)

In the lead up to Easter break, Mastercard is revealing insights into Australians’ leisure travel and related spending patterns.  Findings come from the Mastercard Consumer Purchasing Priorities Survey, which aims to understand consumer outlook on spending priorities in a variety of disciplines.

For example:

–        When travelling for leisure, more Australians prefer to holiday locally rather than internationally (56 percent international leisure travel v. 72 percent domestic leisure travel).

–        Japan is the top choice for international travel (13 percent) while Gold Coast (19 percent) is the most sought after domestic destination.

–        If money were not a constraint, New York, Paris and London continue to be the top destinations chosen by Australians.

–        Majority of consumers continue to be influenced by exchange rates in their plans to travel.

–        Airline websites (71 percent) are the most popular source of best travel deals.

In light of these research findings, Mastercard’s top tip for Aussie travellers is to consider pre-paid travel cards as a great way to lock in exchange rate – so you can better plan your travel budget. They also mean you don’t come home with loose foreign currency as Mastercard travel cards are globally accepted.

It’s also easy to add and convert different currencies (pre-paid – one currency or many and transfer across, it’s also easy and less costly to reconvert your money to AUD when you return) and you can track your currency digitally/online & transfer money across if your balance gets low – this also offers extra security.

It’d be great to know if this would be of interest at all and if you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to drop me a line.
